Being Proper (Tonja/Elmira/ Jenn)
Civilization is what separates us from the our animal counterparts. Our individual instincts to express ourselves is pronounced but yet we must adhere to social and cultural restrictions. When faced in social situations such as eating out in a restaurant and public settings to be proper we are taught and instructed early on in grace and courtesy. For most of us that precludes the use of silverware and other eating utensils and etiquette. Sometimes the temptation to submerge ourselves in our gluttony can be overwhelming. If we give in to that urge we are viewed in a negative light having not followed rules that while not articulated are universally acknowledged.
