I Can Statements
I am continuing to work with "I Can Statements." My most recent modifications to the form can be seen below. I think this is a very valuable tool. I am using it virtually every day in my mathematics class. Students use it to their advantage.
I really emphasize that if students are not ready for testing, they must not sign the form, and instead work on their targeted weakness before they test. If they take a test and fail to demonstrate mastery, then I work with on their targeted weakness. However, that includes asking them why they thought they had mastered the material when in fact they had not.
